Dog Days...

It's already 100 degrees here in D.C.  The humidity is god-awful and despite our one little 5000 BTU AC being on the lowest possible temperature setting 24/7, it's still barely keeping the living room tepid.  My ice cream actually melted last night as I walked the two-and-a-half blocks home from Safeway.

The good news:  we have friends who live in buildings with pools.  Our building, being ancient and cheap, does not have a pool.  If it did, I'd probably be kind of afraid to swim in it anyway seeing as how lead is basically oozing from our walls.  But thankfully, yesterday was trashy magazine club day at one friend's place (with a pool) and today was impromptu BBQ day at another friend's place (also with a pool).  I am now slightly sunburnt, utterly exhausted and sitting under the good graces of two fans.  Mmmm. D.C. summer.
