i think one of the most fun/interesting things about living in kyiv this summer is that i can afford to do stuff that i would never be able to do back at home. case in point: last night we went to see an ukrainian rock cover band play things like natalie imbruglia and ozzy osborne, then afterwards (at midnight) went to a bar for a bit to meet up with some friends...then AFTER that, went to one of the most exclusive nightclubs in the city. thankfully we were with some random dutch guy - who in addition to having the tallest and most gorgeous ukrainian woman i have ever seen on his arm (claire and i kept asking ourselves, "did she just get up? cause she looks AWESOME and it's 3am," whereas we looked like crap cause we were at work yesterday at 8:30am...) had all sorts of shady yet intriguing connections. we skipped the line, paid no cover and got some free drinks. i felt very cool and important. i could get used to this :)
