merry christmas everyone!!! it's not quite the same celebrating this, my favorite time of the year, in a country that doesn't really 'do' christmas like we do (it's january 7th for one thing and mostly religious) but we're trying :)
today we're heading out for a nice peace corps sponsored meal and then nick and i are off to the opera to see rigoletto...in italian. nothing is EVER in english!!! hahaha. it's ok though...my ukrainian is slowly but surely coming along. i'm no where near fluent, but i can manage...and that's pretty impressive considering after 6 years of french i could still barely order food or reserve a hotel room in paris.
i got a cell phone yesterday...so if you want the number and for some reason didn't get my email, contact my mom or one of my friends.
sorry i haven't been blogging lately...but it'll be better soon when i have a more steady block of access time (and when i have more time period!) the last few weeks were crazy with wrapping things up at our practicum schools, studying for the language test (i got intermediate...yey!!) and whatnot. however, tomorrow it really begins. at 2pm i'll be boarding a train with liz and heading to pidvolochysk...where i'll be spending the next two years (minus jaunts across the country and to cool places like croatia!) hahaha. wish me luck...and in the mean time, i'll be thinking of you all and wishing you a merry christmas and a happy new year.
